Money Talks....

Thank you for joining on this issue of Money Talks…. Last issue we discussed habits of ineffective people.  Today we want to touch on a habit of highly effective people practice….leaving a legacy that counts!

-Be intentional:  Stay in relationship with grown children.  Continue to model faithfulness, integrity, love and generosity.  Create occasions where you can have an influence on their lives.

-Engage with them using technology: Text messaging, FaceTime and Skype are tools we can use today to stay in touch.  Everyone has busy lives.  Sending a quick text message or leaving an encouraging message on their cell phone.

-Celebrate them:  Holidays, birthdays, job promotions, anything they have achieved.  This is a great opportunity to encourage them,  congratulate them or to say something that will leave an impression.

-Pass on your faith:  Let your children witness your faith, your worship, your prayer life or how you serve.

Leaving a legacy means giving something that will be valued and treasured by those who survived after your death.   It requires though to ensure that any items that have meaning to you will also have meaning to those designate to inherit them  ie: values, morals, home, property, furnishing, jewelry, cars, stocks, bonds, life insurance and annuities.

One of the things we have recently done is create a family mission statement.  All  family members have a  part in writing the family mission statement.  It’s something that can be passed down for generations to come.

What kind of legacy are you creating?

Until next time,

Diane
